I'm not really into making New Years resolutions, but I did decide on a few things I want to learn this year. One of which is to learn how to work with knits. My first delve into this world was with the Natty Top from Addie K. It is a free pattern and very simple. So I made the top and then decided I wanted a dress instead. Its a great top that just slips on like your favorite old t-shirt and it made a super comfy dress!

Now that the holidays are over I thought it was time to make some more things for myself. I mean, try out some more free patterns. This lovely high-waist A-line skirt is from SeeKateSew, and it honestly took less than morning to make and I really love it. The pattern actually doesn't have a seem in the front, but Im always working from scraps so I had to make the front two pieces. But I really like how it looks!
This is a poem I just wrote for my kids. It may not be the final draft, but it's close. The whole world hush to lull you to sleep The sun rise slowly to wake you in peace The fruit grow fat to feed you in plenty Your friends and family and laughter be many Your love be strong and your patience be stronger Your bad days be short and your good days be longer Tho your path be not easy may it always be clear Tho you travel alone may God keep you from fear In all projects and plans may you never feel worry Enjoy life as it comes, never rush or hurry A thirst for knowledge and a desire to grow An eye of observance wherever you go Satisfaction in work, whatever it be Patience for provision if you're ever in need Tho you be in doubt may your faith never waiver May you always be sure of your one tru Savior Near or far, a strong family connection In a loved ones arms you'll find love and protection Guidance on espousal sent from above If you marry, I pray there'll be respect, friendship, and love In my life whatever else I make or do My greatest accomplishment will always be you Dear Ones, if someday you have children too I pray they will be as lovely as you |
